In this demonstration lead class you will learn how to make a beautiful lampshade using the following techniques:

Please note that you need strong hands for this class!

The topics we aim to cover are: 

  • Binding a frame
  • Preparing your fabric
  • Preparing your lining
  • Stretching methods
  • Inserting balloon lining
  • Making and applying a self trim

Materials needed:

  • 1m of main fabric - cotton, linen and silk work well, embroidered and loosely woven fabrics are not suitable.
  • Small glass headed pins.
  • Sharpes needles.
  • Metal thimble.
  • UHU all purpose adhesive.
  • Thread to match fabric and white thread for lining.

All materials are available to purchase in our shop except glue.

Materials included in the price of your class:

  • Frame.
  • Binding tape.
  • Upholstery thread.
  • Lining.

We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking. All other materials will be provided for your use.


Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in your lesson, but please bring a packed lunch with you or you can pop out to purchase a lunch.
