Ever fancied making your own blinds to suit your home furnishings and fabric? In this one day masterclass we give you the skills and knowledge to create your own roman blinds at home.

During this class we produce a half metre blind sample for you to take home and use as a guide to make full size blinds in fabrics of your choice. As well as this we will cover practical information on measuring and sewing and discuss how to hang the blinds using the traditional batten method with velcro faced tracking.

How to measure and calculate fabric amounts to fit your windows
Understand the importance of fabric grain
Marking and cutting of your fabric
Learn about pattern repeat and how to match patterned fabric.
How to calculate cascading folds
Gain information on different types and weights of fabrics for blinds
Work out calculations for creating castings for doweling rods
Understand how to hang your blind
1m x 114cm cotton cloth, preferably plain or striped
1m x 114cm lining cotton
A roman blind kit of tapes and bars
Materials can be purchased in our shop.
We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in your lesson, but for this lesson you will also need to bring a packed lunch.
